- The moisture content of chana dal should not exceed 13%. High moisture content can
lead to spoilage and mold growth.
- Chana dal should be free from foreign matter, such as stones, dirt, and other
debris. The maximum allowable amount of foreign matter is typically 1.0%.
- Chana dal should have a minimum of 95.0% sound kernels. This means that no more than
5.0% of the kernels can be damaged, broken, or diseased.
- Chana dal should be free from live insects. The maximum allowable number of dead
insects is typically 50 per kilogram.
